The Dublin Guardians spent an afternoon with young cricketers at Pembroke Cricket Club as part of a Community Day focused on bringing the team closer to Dublin’s grassroots cricket community.

Guardians Craig Young, Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Vijay Shankar joined the kids for a series of net sessions, fi elding drills, games and cricket challenges, before taking time to answer questions and speak about their experiences in the professional game.

For the Dublin Guardians, the initiative forms part of a wider effort to build stronger links with clubs, young players and cricket supporters across the city.

Ajit Ravindran, CEO, Dublin Guardians, said: “Seeing the enthusiasm of the children at Pembroke and watching them interact with our players was a great experience. We want the Guardians to be a team that the community feels connected to, and days like this are an important part of building that connection. A big thank you to Pembroke Cricket Club for hosting us and helping us create such a memorable experience for the children.”

Andy Hill, Youth Chair, Pembroke Cricket Club, said: “It was great to see so many young cricketers down at Pembroke Cricket Club to enjoy a training session with the Dublin Guardians. Craig, Sanjay and Vijay were so generous with their time and really engaged with the kids.”

The Community Day is part of the Guardians’ initiative on building a meaningful presence in Dublin beyond the fi eld, while encouraging the next generation of players and fans to stay connected with the sport.
